K_AiR Programme 2022

Artist in Residence (AiR) 2022 at Kvitbrakka is now selected and it is not possible to apply at this moment. Date for open call for AiR 2023 will be announced before easter 2022.

About the residency programme

Kvitbrakka’s AiR grant-funded programme selects every year between 4 and 6 professional international and Norwegian visual artists, musicians, writers or independent curators.

The programme offers one or two months stays with onsite accommodation and studio space and a grant towards travel expenses and more.

Residencies are process-based and focused on enabling artists to dedicate full time to their projects.

In the selection process we prioritise projects that are focused on subject matters particularly related to Northern Norway.

Kvitbrakka is located in Berlevåg, next to the Havnemuseum by the Hurtigruta quay. With a population of just over 1000 inhabitants, Berlevåg is particularly known for its stunning arctic nature, the fishing industry and the unique cultural life. Please check the film "Helt Normal Galskap" for a quick overview on the village's rich natural and cultural environment.

Applications are reviewed on the basis of project quality, artistic excellence and artist’s intentions for engagement with the local community.

4- A project proposal not exceeding one A4 page.
